Sandy Island South Pacific
For years Sandy Island South Pacific (aka Sable Island) has been around the maps of sources like Google Earth and National Geographic. In accordance with the maps, Sandy Island South Pacific occupied about 60 miles within the South Pacific halfway involving Australia and New Caledonia.
How do we understand that? A group of Australian scientists from University of Sidney did not see it on their navigational charts so they set out to discover it. They set out aboard the investigation vessel Southern Surveyor and sailed towards the place but discovered only clear blue water. The captain of the ship was a little nervous thinking that he may run aground but there was absolutely nothing there.
According to the lead researcher, Maria Seton, a geologist, “It’s on Google Earth along with other maps so we went to check and there was no island. We’re actually puzzled. It really is very bizarre, how did it uncover its way onto the maps? We just do not know, but we program to stick to up and find out.”
I am actually surprised that Sandy Island South Pacific is on Google Earth because it was my belief that they really took photos and applied them to create the software. I know my home is correct and you can see the pool in my backyard.

In 2000, a reader of National Geographic told them that Sandy Island South Pacific didn’t exist but National Geographic didn’t obtain conclusive evidence that might lead them to take it off their maps. They do think it now and can not put it on any future maps.

We’ve all come to trust the word of people today in authority, like Google Earth and National Geographic. We’ve relied on them for years to show us the entire world we live on. Does it shake your belief in what’s genuine when people with that kind of authority make that kind of mistake? It does not shake mine.
