Glaucoma has a long reputation different theories for the “best practice” to determine its magnitude in individual’s eyes.
Various tools to determine glaucoma, specifically, the pressure of the eye, called intraocular pressure are used. While there are a few varying theories for the underlying cause of glaucoma, most believe it starts if the intraocular pressure of the eye rises, the pressure build-up acting like hypertension on the eye. It doesn’t make itself acknowledged until the pressure accumulates so great that perspective is impaired and also symptoms begin to demonstrate.

The EPIC-Norfolk eye Review reports the submitting and causes of intraocular eye pressure through the “first large-scale population-based steps of corneal biomechanics.” Instead of using the standard rating tool- central corneal fullness, the University of faculty London used a computer device “which generates measures involving corneal biomechanics along with IOP and attempts to proper IOP for corneal actual physical properties.”

Researchers studied different aspects of the eyes using a non-contact tonometer referred to as Ocular Response Analyzer. The Analyzer measured the pressure of the eye and took corneal alignment data.

Dr. Paul Create, the study’s author states, “We will be using our results to assess the credibility of current glaucoma treatment guidelines, with respect to levels of danger attributed to specific numbers of IOP.”
