What Is J-1 Training

The purpose of the J-1Traineship Visa is to provide the Exchange Visitor the opportunity to participate in a work-based learning program that reinforces a student`s or recent graduates academic study through on the job training, also for professionals to gain more experience and get a chance to train in multicultural environment. The J-1 Internship visa is a non-immigrant visa, therefore the Cultural Exchange Visitor agrees they are not intending to immigrate to the United States nor will they seek to change their status while here in the United States or become employed by their 3rd party host during their contracted dates with the designated sponsor.

The exchange visitor (J) non-immigrant visa category is provided for people who are approved to participate in exchange visitor programs in the U.S., under provisions of U.S. immigration law. This means that before you can apply at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate for a J visa, you must first apply, meet the requirements, and be accepted for one of the Exchange Visitor Program categories through J1 Training Agency. If you are accepted as a participant in an exchange program, the J1 Training Inc. will provide you with information and necessary documents such as DS-7002 and DS-2019 to apply for the J visa to enter the U.S.

Program Benefits

Health Insurance

Participants are required to carry appropriate medical insurance. It is very risky to be in the U.S. without adequate health insurance. In the U.S., individuals are responsible for their own health care costs. Even one day of medical treatment can cost hundreds of dollars, so many hospitals and doctors refuse to treat uninsured patients except in life-threatening emergencies. Insurance will therefore give you access to better health care and it provides the only protection against the extreme costs of health care in the U.S. J1 Training Inc. will provide you adequate insurance at no extra cost to you.

Housing

Host companies generally offer 1-2 week free accommodation to their intern/trainees, during this time you will able to arrange your own accommodation. You can;

Rent an apartment by yourself which will provide you with the most freedom; however, it will also be very expensive.

Share an apartment or a house with other people such as other trainees at the location or with your collogues at the host company which is a cost-efficient way to live. You agree to divide responsibilities and payment of rent and the bills.

Sublease is another option; sublet an apartment from a tenant who leaves for a period of time – a few months or longer. You assume the responsibilities of paying rent and bills and the original tenant assumes all responsibilities under the lease.

To rent, share, or sublet an apartment, you are typically required to provide a photo ID, a letter from an employer with salary information, and bank account information.
