INTRODUCTION
A FAR CRY Via SUNSET
In the summer of 2005, three friends and I took a good eight month voyage across the two land masses of America along with Europe. We were on a mission: – to get ten of the world’s most well-known recording artists for you to record a homage album to an unidentified songwriter; – And that songwriter would be me. And as many of us travelled we were making a road film; an epic chronicle of our own quest, and a proof of our friendship. We all made it and we named it, Tribute This! The actual adventures we had and the people we fulfilled changed my life exceptionally. Not only its present but also how I viewed its past. Aside from our struggles together with managers, publicists, security and also one or two of the designers themselves, we bumped into so many people from ordinary walks of life; cab drivers, hotel porters, fans browsing line to see their own heroes, who couldn’t perform enough to help as well as encourage us upon our journey. For just one long summer, we all lived life consequently brilliantly; so filled with laughter and an accumulating sense of achievement which i wondered if the artists we were pursuing at any time got to see life in anything like the same way. In contrast they will seemed so protected, so hidden away, thus cut off from the globe that, towards the end in our travels, the thought struck me that, at that point over time, I wouldn’t swap 12 months of their lives for just one day of ours. Our hope is that, inside reading my account of those heady days, you’ll learn why.
